Here is a new article written by me for Farm Dog.

Ben Affleck has taken over the solo Batman film, titled The Batman, and is busy crafting his own love letter to the Batman universe. His version of Batman was one of the few good parts of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, so fans are hopeful that he will do the franchise justice. One question we have about this new era for Batman is which villains and heroes are going to appear. It was recently revealed that we aren’t going to see Catwoman for sure, at least not yet. In a recent conversation with Heroic Hollywood actress Sienna Miller indicated that Catwoman wasn’t in the script for the new film. Miller has made it very clear that she’d like to take on the role once it does finally emerge.
There are a handful of characters that have always found their way into the live action versions of Batman, ever since the classic 1966 Adam West Batman series, including Joker, Penguin, Riddler and of course Catwoman. There were actually three different versions of Catwoman in the classic series (Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether and Eartha Kitt). Tim Burton brought her into his film universe in 1992’s Batman Returns (Michelle Pfeiffer). Burton’s version was super cool and dark, but not exactly true to the traditional character. We won’t mention that awful Catwoman solo film starring Halle Berry since it was a travesty of nature, and we’ll move right on to the Nolanverse. Director Christopher Nolan had a great run with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, but when it came to The Dark Knight Rises and his version of Catwoman (Anne Hathaway), something fell a bit short.
This new DC Extended Cinematic Universe is our chance to finally get an ideal version of Catwoman. Hopefully, Affleck will eventually include her and finally utilize comic book source material. My suggestion is to get back to the 1990s Jim Balent Catwoman solo-series. All eyes are on The Batman movie in the meantime, to see if Affleck can finally achieve what has elude so many before him, a comic accurate depiction of Batman on film.
